Introduction

Course Objectives

This course is designed to provide you with the basics of Portable Document Format (PDF) documents with Adobe Acrobat. You will learn how to create PDF documents, employ navigation functions within the documents and modify PDF documents.

Pre-requisites Delegates should have a basic understanding of using Windows 95 or above or Apple OS8 or above.

Acrobat Basics
Understanding PDF documents, the Acrobat work area, viewing PDF documents.

Creating PDF Documents
Creating PDF documents from Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint) and PostScript applications, using PDF Writer and Distiller.

Setting Options
PDF Writer options and Distiller options.

Converting Web Pages
Configuring Internet settings, capturing web pages.

Navigation
Incorporating navigation in PDF documents with thumbnails, bookmarks, articles, destination and links.

Modifying PDF Documents
Moving, copying, extracting, deleting and renumbering pages, and editing text.

Course Objectives

This course is designed to further your knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and Portable Document Format files. You will learn how to annotate PDF documents, create and use PDF forms, adding interactivity, indexing and distributing PDF documents.

Pre-requisites

Delegates should be familiar with the basic operation of Adobe Acrobat including creating PDF documents using PDF Writer and Distiller, incorporating navigation functions and modifying PDF documents.

Platform Windows 95+, Apple OS8+.

Annotation
Marking up documents and managing annotations.

PDF Forms
Creating forms in a PDF document, form fields, making forms web ready, exporting and importing form data.

Adding Interactivity
Integrating movie and sound clips, using actions for special effects and using buttons.

Indexing
Preparing PDF document collections for indexing, defining and building indexes and automatically updating indexes.

Searching Catalog Indexes
Searching indexes, refining indexes and search preferences.

Distributing PDF Documents
E-mailing documents from Acrobat, preparing documents for electronic distribution, distributing PDF documents on the web and CD.

Digital Signatures
Working with digital signatures, signing documents and validating signatures.
